Union President Billy Martin began working for Michigan Bell in 1973. He has worked outside in a variety of jobs ranging from telephone installer to repairman, and he presently is a Cable Splicing Specialist in the Installation and Repair Department. Billy has always been active in the union as he progressed through the ranks from Steward to President. |
| Billy lives in Bay City and owns a quarter horse farm where he and his family have raised horses since 1985. |
| He enjoys representing people and finds it challenging and rewarding. Every day he says he is reminded of how lucky we are to have this union and to be a part of it, and that we must never forget that all of us together are a formidable force. |
| "The benefits and wages that we all enjoy have taken many years and numerous contracts to achieve," Billy says. "The company didn't just give them to us. It will take all of us fighting together to keep them. These are difficult times and the future will be full of tough issues. I'm confident that we will survive and thrive in the coming years." |
