| When CWA 4108 member Teri Crawford in Saginaw, Michigan was screened for bone marrow donation back in 1999, she thought she would probably never be called. Non-family matches are very rare, and marrow/stem-cell transplants are a relatively new medical development. | ![]() |
| In early March of 2005, Teri, who works as a Residential Customer Care Service Representative, was called about a match. She was willing to take her own vacation time, travel across the state, and subject herself to physicals, blood tests, and days of injections prior to the stem cell transplant. |

Unfortunately, the stem cell transplant did not work. But not being one to give up, Teri again traveled to Grand Rapids and went through the actual bone marrow transplant which was more painful and complicated than the stem cell transplant. So far there have been no rejection issues to the transplant. |
| It only takes about 10 minutes to get on the National Marrow Donor Program list. It could be a matter of life and death for a leukemia patient. Local 4108, joined by District 4, is very proud of Teri's spirit and of the personal sacrifice that she has made for an unknown recipient. Teri is living proof of how caring CWA members are. |
